Red Square is heart of the center of world trade, through it the first Russian trading ways have been laid. In XV century merchants have put here self-made a bench with the goods, having transformed the area in a brisk trading place. In the beginning of XIX century the motley market was replaced with the first building of the Upper Trading Rows constructed under the project of well-known architect Osip (Juseppe) Bove which reminded palaces of the Roman Empire. And some later decades — in 1883 — they have been replaced a new ones, already in the European style, from glass and metal in which there is GUM — the Main department store of the country now.
The Upper Trading Rows represent a unique architectural design. And the oldest in city a fountain located in center of GUM, — one of favourite places of a meeting muscovites and visitors of capital.
